First Sip Sends Girl and Goose into a Frenzy

As Told to the Westler Valley Voice by Matta A. Rhymes

THE RHYMES HOUSEHOLD, WESTLER — Gramma G always loved a good cup of coffee in the morning, my little rascals. I didn't understand it at first, but she sure did! When I woke up, this bitter odor would permeate through the house and make my nose twitch at the foul stench.

The only thing that I did love about that coffee smell was that it meant Gramma G was in the kitchen. Most likely, she was sittin' at the table with that wretched drink in front of her while she chatted with Ma.

So, as the foul smell wafted past my nose which immediately caused my eyes to pop open, I would hop out of bed, run down the stairs, and eagerly sit in the chair next the Gramma G. She always had a calm about her as she sipped the dark stuff and conversated.

Over the years, I got used to it, but the question about her enjoyment of it was where I always fell short.
