The Bookshop

Inside the Bookshop

MAIN STREET, WESTLER — This shop is quiet the way a forest is quiet — which is to say, not really, once you learn to listen. Pages whisper, the floorboards creak their own greeting, and the whole place smells of paper, leather, and lamp oil. Time moves different in here. You've been warned.

Behind the Counter

Mrs. Anne Arelbell Moot — a soft-spoken gentlewoman who can find you the exact book you didn't know you came in for. She loves hearing lovely stories but she's too shy to ever tell you. Often with her nose in a book when you walk in the front door, Mrs. Moot has read more books than anyone else could ever attempt.

On the Shelves

  • Fairy Tales, of course.
  • The Old Wives' Tales of Westler
  • Almanacs and planting guides for the practical-minded
  • Rhymes and bedtime tales, worn soft from small hands

Current Special

The long-nights bundle: one thick winter read for the grown folks, one bedtime storybook for the little ones, wrapped in paper and string.

On the Notice Board

"Storytelling hour every week. In memory of the finest storyteller Westler ever knew!"
