MAIN STREET, WESTLER — Shelves to the ceiling, and every inch of them crowded with jars, bottles, bundles, and drawers labeled in the smallest handwriting you ever squinted at. It smells of mint and lavender at the front of the shop, and of something decidedly less friendly toward the back. That'd be the Nix oil.
Behind the Counter
Miss Lilliput Hardgrave — sharp-eyed, patient, and impossible to fluster. She can tell what ails you before you've finished your sentence, and she'll send you home with a remedy, plain instructions, and no sympathy whatsoever for those who don't follow them.
On the Shelves
- The winter chest rub — the famous one. Half of Westler smells like it from first frost to thaw.
- Dried herbs and remedies for every common complaint
- Nix oil — powerful pungent stuff, though baked in the oven it loses its bite. Used for remedies, and — in some houses — for punishments. The less said, the better.
- Honeys, tinctures, and sleep-easy teas
Current Special
The cold-season shelf is stocked early this year: chest rubs, throat honeys, and sleep-easy tea, bundled up for the sniffles before they start.
