As Told to the Westler Valley Voice by Matta A. Rhymes
MRS. MARKUM'S SCHOOLHOUSE, WESTLER — Good evening to you, my little rascals. Forgive me if I sound a little out of sorts tellin' you this tale. You see, I'm not much one for the lovey dovey stuff, but to say I've never had a great affection for someone, well that would just be a fib. I did and actually still do to this day care for this man. In fact, we dance in and out of each other's lives all the time. But before I get too far down that road, I think it best if I tell you how we met.
The two names you must know for this tale are - Niles and Miles.
We youngers in our first year of school knew those two boys as Tweedle-dum and Tweedle-dee. Don't ask me how those nicknames came to be. I couldn't tell you. They were already made up by the time I met those two.
What I can tell you is that those nicknames were meant to express our frustration with how much stronger and BIGGER they were than all of us combined.
I know you and I have known each other for a few years now, and I wish I could tell you why I've never told you any of these stories before. At the end of this tellin', it should explain how I grew into my big girl britches.
