As Told to the Westler Valley Voice by Matta A. Rhymes
THE ASPER WOODS, WESTLER — Hunker down and get ready, my little rascals, because I'm about to tell you the story of Miss Marscals Maypum. I know, I know the name really is as ridiculous as it sounds.
Honestly, Miss Marscals Maypum is as weird as you think she is.
Let me back up a couple of steps and start with I knew her when I was just a child. She lived on the outskirts of Westler in a little clearin' of the Asper woods. Her house was made of stone and sort of tilted to one side, so it caused your head to tilt with it to straighten it out… well, at least that's what your mind thought it was doin'.
There was a tall chimney that curved completely sideways, so when smoke came out of it, it looked like it came out of the middle of the house. And it was always a dark crimson red.
The one thing this town could always count on from Miss Maypum was that smoke. There was even a town council meetin' about if it were safe or not. Though it was concluded that it was just fine. After all, it smelled of Janker Roses. Quite pleasant, if you asked me.
On the rare occasion Miss Maypum came out of her house, she could be seen from the path that led through the woods, sweepin' her doorstep while she hummed a tune. Seems normal enough, right?

Who's Who in Westler
- Miss Marscals Maypum — The woods-dwelling woman the whole town whispers about, and the keeper of a secret or two.
- The Lord Mayor — Too spooked to knock on her door alone.
