The Candlemaker

Inside the Candlemaker's Shop

MAIN STREET, WESTLER — Warm wax, honey, and woodsmoke — that's the smell of this shop, and it wraps around you at the door like a blanket. Candles hang in the air all across the ceiling beams like sleeping bats, dipped rows of them drying in every color the bees never intended.

Behind the Counter

Mr. Herman Boscal — and the name's earned. He learned to love wax from his grampa. The two would make scented candles for all seven of Mr. Boscal's sisters as gifts for the holidays. His grandfather swore up and down both sides of the street that he could pair every person to the perfect scented candle based off of their personality.

On the Shelves

  • Storm candles — the famous ones. Long-burning, steady-flamed, and stubborn against drafts. Every Westler pantry keeps a bundle.
  • Beeswax tapers for the Sunday table
  • Lanterns and tiny candles for children who've heard one too many tall tales
  • Sealing wax for letters worth sealing

Current Special

The long-nights bundle: a dozen storm candles as the dark comes earlier — plus one small night-light candle free for the little ones. The dark's not so big with a light on.
