Cinderella turned into a 'Who Done It' without me expecting it too. Many have complained that this is the shortest of the books, I removed the magic from the story AND the love story is NOT the main focus. Finding out what really happened in the house Countess's house is what Claire spends all her time on in the story.
What I will say about this tale is that everything is very, VERY well thought out. I have surprised myself in re-reading it by how layered it is. Honestly, everything that happens in this story has a reason for why. Even down to why the Countess chose Claire to come and interview her as to what it was like to raise Cinderella.
And as different as my version is, the original is quite different than you might think too... There is NO fairy godmother. Just the spirit of Cinderella's mother who communicates through birds on a particular tree.
