Nursery rhymes are old poems and songs with dark origins meant for children. Though the expression Mother Goose Rhymes wasn't coined until the late 18th century, the first mention of the name came from The Tale of My Mother Goose, written by none other than the Godfather of Fairy Tales himself, Charles Perrault, in 1697.
